Overview: In this immersion participants learn the basics of equine care. This includes activities such as grooming, tacking, bathing, hoof care, feeding, etc. Through actively learning how to care for horses, participants will explore and develop their relationship to themselves and the greater herd.

Program Requirements/Guidelines:
  • Minimum 4 participants
  • Ages 9-13 must be accompanied by an adult. Both are required to pay fee.
  • Age 14+ Parent/Guardian to sign waiver
  • Must speak English
  • Each level must be completed sequentially

Equine Education Experience

Level 1

Participants will learn the following skills:
  • Comprehensive tools for safety and effectiveness while in the presence of horses.
  • Understanding the horse’s senses and instincts
  • How to build relationship with a horse
  • Barn safety
  • How to catch and halter a horse
  • How to safely tie a horse
  • Leading horse’s safely

Level 2

  • Basic first aid
  • Bathing & grooming
  • Basic hoof care
  • Feeding and supplements for horse’s

Level 3

  • Correct fitting of bit
  • How to bridle a horse
  • Parts of the saddle
  • Learning to saddle with blankets
  • Safety checks prior to riding
  • Mounting and dismounting safely
